Haute Couture Review

The winter season has not even tightened its grip, that the spring collections are already blossoming on the catwalks of New York, London, Milan and Paris!

The Big Four tour ended as usual in Paris. Among the protagonists of the Prêt à Porter, Dior, Ferragamo, Versace, Lanvin, Kenzo, Maison Margiela, Valentino, Vuitton, Saint Laurent... along with the most famous fashion bloggers, influencers, journalists and stars of the jet set.

The fashion week allured the audience not only for the variety of lines, colours and new interpretations of the great Maisons, but also for the original and highly scenic set-ups, above all Chanel with the reconstruction of the Eiffel Tower at the Gran Palais in Paris.
Across the ocean, in the Santa Monica nature reserve, Dior has paid tribute to South America and Western cinema with Indian tents, bonfires and hot air balloons.

At the Milan Fashion Week, the special effect was guaranteed by the Golden Girls, the 90s super models Carla Bruni, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen and Claudia Schiffer, invited by Donatella Versace to celebrate the twenty-year anniversary of her brother Gianni's death.
But let's discover the spring/summer collections!

"Why have there been no great women artists?" Christian Dior's fashion show opens with Linda Nochlin's phrase printed on a T-shirt. The collection is a tribute to the feminine figure in art, particularly to Niki de Saint-Phalle, Marc Bohan's French aristocratic model.

The S/S 2018 Christian Dior collection ranges from plush tulle skirts, blousons, tailor-made bar jackets, striped marinières, denims and T-shirts, leather suits and bikers.
Fur is also back, as well as fabric that slides over the skin, such as silk, chiffon, poplin and cotton. The dominant colours are red, black, white and navy.

On Salvatore Ferragamo's catwalk we can admire, tight clothing, fluid forms, flared dresses, from midi to maxi. The fil rouge of the S/S 2018 collection are the colours: light blue, white, coral, mango yellow, poppy, pastels and purple.

Ferragamo's creations show floral patterns made using laser techniques, fringes and opalescent sequins. The fabrics range from translucent synthetic organza to leather and python skin.
As accessories: diva glasses, leather belt bags and reptile handbags, heeled sandals, open-toe trunks and coloured python boots.

"Versus is individuality, strength, and positivity."
Donatella Versace debuts at the Central Saint Martins Fashion School in London, where she will sponsor a scholarship for young talents, once again dedicated to her brother, Gianni Versace.

The Versus Versace Woman is definitely rock! She wears short dresses, long skirts with slits, colourful shirts, top-cropped shirts and net waist-coats, boxy jackets and flare pants. In intimacy, she wears bras with french knickers and shorts.

Black and red are back, but Versace also dares with yellow and fluorescent green. Among the accessories: small and flat handbags, high-heeled sandals and fringed boots. accessories: small and flat handbags, high-heeled sandals and fringed boots.
